Man, this Erat-Forsberg trade just looks worse and worse for Washington.

Wash probably gonna have to take a contract along with a 3-5th rounder

This deal looked bad from the start. I kinda sorta saw the rationale, but it wasnt great then, and now its just a flat out fail (provided Forsberg is what he is supposed to be.)

Not going to be easy. Erat has contributed in torpedoing his value by that information getting out there that he wants to be traded. Went from lower value to minimal.

May have to take a bad contract or Erat may honestly be stuck where he is whether he likes it or not.

Erat for Booth. Done happily.

although if I'm washington I'd find a way to pick up heatley. He can't skate but he can shoot. I'd only start him in the O zone and stick him on the power play.

Heatley also makes 7.5 mill albeit for this yr only. Not sure wash can fit that in

If they take Booth as any part of a deal, it would be clear that the old adage of the East not staying up late enough to know what the west is doing would never be more true.

Well I spent 2 minutes looking at it and I can't figure it out so you're right. Washington can't fit him in. Maybe at the trade deadline but thats it. Looks like they'll be taking Booth, go canucks go.

He might look good on Colorado's 2nd line. And you guys have the cap space.

Apart from that NYI and OTT could also both accommodate for Erat's cap hit in full and with his playmaking ability he'd be a decent boost to both of their top 6.

Not really. It would be one underperforming dog, for another.

Both with the same cap hit.

Booth performed well in the soft defensive East, maybe that will do him some good.

Are you talking Upshall or Erat on Avs 2nd line? Erat playing under Roys system could work. I would move a guy like McGinn to make it work, but rather move Mitchell instead.

An Erat/Michalek deal would work out greatly for both teams. Michalek is UFA and makes more than his cap hit, and Erat is signed for another year and makes less than his cap hit (next year he makes only $2.25M cash) which is exactly what Ottawa needs considering their budget and Washington gets an upgrade on the wing.

I'm not sure what the entire deal would have to look like (who gets the extra piece and how big of a piece it has to be) but it could work out for both teams.

But Erat has all the power right now, wanted a trade to a contender, and now wants a trade bc he wants more ice team and to be used correctly. I would assume he would want to still be traded to a contender.

With the NTC, you have to think he has a select list of teams he wants to move to, wonder if OTT would be on that list or if OTT would want to deal with another NTC using drama type player

I wonder if Buffalo would take a chance on him. They could get him relatively cheap and give him the ice time to hopefully play his way out of this slump, and then flip him at the deadline for a good pick or prospect. It's a risk but it could pay off.

After the Luongo situation, I wonder if players will be less likely to pull the NTC card when they've asked to be moved.

I always felt after you waived your NTC once, then its done, you recieved that while being a part of Team A...if you dont watn to be apart of Team A anymore, you dont get that right after waiving to become apart of Team B

I wouldn't mind seeing that. Buffalo has nothing to lose at this point of the season. We need a GM first. Go Sabres.

It can't be hard for a GM to say "take the deal or your staying here".

Especially if the best deal comes from a team he doesn't want to go to.
